Day 01

Arrive Cochin

Your Tea Garden and Backwaters tour will begin at your arrival at the Cochin airport, where you will be received by a Trans India Holidays representative and will be transferred to your selected hotel for 2 night stay.

Day 2

In Cochin

This morning head out for Cochin's half day of sight seeing starting from the Dutch Palace, The Portuguese constructed The Mattancherry Palace in 1557, and presented to the Maharaja of Cochin, Veera Kerala Varma (1537-61) as sign of goodwill. After 1663, the Dutch carried out some constructions and renovations in the palace, and from that day it was widely called as the ‘Dutch Palace’, continue your sightseeing to The Jewish Synangogue, The Jewish Synagogue is located near the Dutch Palace. This synagogue was constructed in 1568 and was brilliantly decorated by Chinese tiles and Belgian chandeliers. The Synagogue has a giant scroll of the Old Testament, then to the Cochin Harbor, the very popular tourist attraction the Chinese Fishing nets. These fishing nets are one of its kind and are found only in India, then to the St. Francis Church which was constructed in 1503 by the Europeans. This church was the oldest church in India. And finally visit the Hill Palace which was constructed by the Raja of Kochi in the 19th century. The Kochi province was ruled from the Hill Palace.

Day 3

Drive Cochin to Munnar (135 kms/03 hrs)

The next stop on your Kerala tour is Munnar, situated at a height of 1600 m., in the midst of very beautiful tea gardens and coffee plantations. On arrival, check in to your chosen hotel and spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the hotel facilities or exploring the surroundings at your own pace.

In Munnar

After a relaxing day and an overnight stay in Munnar you could for a tour to one of Munnar's tea gardens or Spice plantations.

Day 5

Drive Munnar to Periyar (140 kms/3.5 hrs)

After the beautiful stay in Munnar start your drive to Periyar, the next destination on your Kerala tour. Periyar is one of the most popular National Parks in Southern India, but these days this is more famous for its serene feel than sightings of wildlife. The uniqueness of the sanctuary extends around the banks of a huge artificial lake that was created by the damming of the Periyar River a century ago. The sanctuary is known for the Tigers. On your arrival in Periyar check in at your selected jungle lodge for 2 night stay.

Day 6

In Periyar

This morning the guide will pick you up from the resort for a guided tour to the nearby spice plantation. Cinnamom and ginger, pepper and cardamom, and various other spices grown on the Periyar hill made it nature’s taste factory in the 14th century, as Cochin became nature’s harbor, the shipping port for a spice hungry world.

Day 7

Drive Periyar to Kumarakom (200 kms/04 hrs)

After visiting the Periyar National Park, Continue your tour and start your morning drive through the tea and then the rubber plantations, combined with small cardamom, coffee, ginger and pepper-growing estates to the peacefulness of Kumarakom backwaters. Kumarakom is a small village on the Vembanad Lake in Kerela. This beautiful paradise stocked with mangrove forests, beryl green paddy fields and coconut groves comprises with water ways and canals adorned with while lilies. Kumarakom charms the tourist from all over the world. On your arrival, check in to your selected retreat and enjoy the rest of the day discovering nature's beauty at your own pace.

Day 8

Kumarakom to your Houseboat

Board your private house boat for an overnight stay. This cruise along the beautiful backwater canals of Kerala is the highlight of any Kerala holiday for most travellers. The Kerala Houseboats, are converted rice barges or "Kettuvallams" and sail along shallow, palm-fringed lakes and narrow canals where coconut and cashew are loaded onto dugouts. You pass villages built on narrow spits of land, stopping to visit local markets by bullock-cart, or to marvel at craftsmen engaged in centuries-old boat-making traditions.
The Houseboats offer one or two cabins with a small sitting room and a crew of 2 staff and a chef. Onboard the cuisine is authentic Kerala cuisine, purchased fresh along the way. For most of the journey, the boat is poled, sailing only between dawn and dusk. Although the accommodation on board is basic, this is an unforgettable experience.

Day 9

Disembark at Alleppey, drive to Cochin Airport (85 kms/02 hrs)

Have a relaxed morning and after a bit of cruising on the lake, disembark your houseboat at Alleppey and drive to Cochin Airport in time for your flight back home.
